A high school teacher who was grieving the loss of her 16-year-old cat was moved to tears of joy when her students presented her with a surprise gift.

According to ABC News, the statistics teacher, Tonya Andrews, suddenly started to cry one day in class. She apologized and explained that her beloved cat had died the day before.

"I cried pretty much every period that next day at school," Andrews told the Huffington Post. She said Blondie died in her arms on the way to the vet.

Rachel Hanhart, Ashlei Mahan, Makayla Comer and Sheridan Swindell decided to surprise Andrews with kittens.

Hanhart's mother helped them find two small kittens in the area who needed a home.

The teens brought them to school, along with some cupcakes, to surprise Andrews.
