If you're in the market for a new car, you may want to go one step further than just kicking the rims.  You're going to want to check if there's a spare.

Some car brands are not providing a spare tire in new models, but rather filling the void in the trunk with an air compressor and a can of tire sealant, Consumer Reports has found.

Kia has been not supplying spares for a few model years, now other motor companies are following suit.

KFOX reporters spoke with a Ford dealership in El Paso, Texas,  who said that Ford has replaced the spare with the same quick fix to save weight in vehicles and thereby gas mileage.

Acura has apparently decided not to include the spare in its new 2015 Acura TLX according to Torquenews.com.

Consumer Reports actually found that are nearly 40 new car models that are replacing the spare with the inflation kit, including the Cadillac CTS,  Chevrolet Volt, Fiat 500 and Porsche 911.

So what do you do if you want a spare and jack in your new vehicle and it doesn't come from the factory with it?

Acura sells a spare tire kit which runs, for the parts alone, $369, not counting installation.
