Authorities on Saturday said a police officer was shot in Ferguson, Missouri, where Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was fatally shot by a white police officer on Aug. 9.
According to KSDK-TV and The Associated Press, the officer, who was shot in the arm, was expected to live.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the officer approached two men about 9:10 p.m. because the community center was closed, AP reported. The men ran away, but "one of the men turned and shot," Belmar said.
Belmar said the officer shot back, but there was "no indication" that the suspects were hit, AP reported.
