It’s a safe bet to say snow is a rare sight in Las Vegas because it is. There are plenty of unusual sights, including a pyramid, a palace, the Eiffel Tower, even a replica of Manhattan, but snow is generally not one of them.
The strip hasn't seen snow in 10 years until Sunday night when a surprise storm dumped about 2 inches of the white stuff on the city.
There were no snowplows on the streets or people shoveling out casino doorways, but there was enough for residents to take notice, after all snow and desert sands are usually not synonymous.
“Um, what the…..,” the Nevada Highway Patrol tweeted with a video showing a light snowfall under a street lamp.
Other posts on social media showed scenes and videos of heavy, wet snow falling on parts of the city and the surrounding Las Vegas Valley.
Las Vegas could get another round of wintry weather Thursday, too.
