Jennifer Jones says her 4-year-old rat terrier mix saved her daughter from being abducted.
"My hero. My daughter's hero," Jones said holding her dog.
The girl told Cobb County police she was walking her sisters to school around 7 a.m. Thursday when a man drove past her and stopped.
"She kept walking and when he had jumped out of the truck he tried to grab her and my dog goes crazy," Jones told Channel 2's Carl Willis
The dog bit the suspect on the ankle, just enough to run him off.
"Who knows what would have happened if the dog hadn't reacted to that sudden movement by the suspect as he actually grabbed the young lady by the wrist," said Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police Department.
She was shaken, but the girl was able to work with a forensics artist from the GBI and create a sketch.
Neighbors say finding the guy is so important because they are steps away from a school.
"There's always children going up and down this street without parents or anything and it's really scary that it's happening like that," neighbor Rebecca Walker told Willis.
Police say the suspect is middle-aged, about 5 feet 10 inches with an average build and driving a white newer model truck; single cab with scratches on the right side and rear.
"When someone takes and steps across a line, as this individual has done to actually grab this young lady, that's a huge concern for us," Pierce said.
"I'm hoping that they find him and I'm hoping somebody is aware," Jones said. "Very thankful that my dog bit him."
Anyone with information on the man's whereabouts is asked to call Cobb County police at 770-801-3479.
