Fourth of July fireworks spooked a K-9 officer in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, causing it to run away from its handler. Now the Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in bringing him home.
The office said Igor’s handler took him outside around 9:45 p.m. Thursday to allow him to relieve himself. Igor, as usual, was not on a leash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
While outside, fireworks exploded near the house, causing Igor to run off.
Igor, who is trained as an explosives detection K-9, was last seen in the 900 block of Oregon Street, in Kannapolis.
The Sheriff’s Office said Igor is not trained to bite. He was last seen wearing a silver chain collar and has an implanted microchip ID.
Anyone with information about Igor's location is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 704-920-3000.
