A fatal crash on U.S. 101 in Washington killed reality TV star Gabe Rygaard, the Peninsula Daily News reports.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Russ Winger tweeted about the crash Friday morning; three cars crashed near Laird Road, which is west of Port Angeles.

A WSP report obtained by KIRO-TV says that Gabriel Rygaard, 45, was killed in the wreck. Six other people were involved in the crash.

Several people on Rygaard's Ax Men fan page are sharing their condolences.

"Ax Men" told the story of the men who risk their lives every day to provide America with the timber it needs to build cities, towns and lives.

Rygaard was part of his family-owned business, Rygaard Logging. It has been in business since 1991.

The History Channel show was canceled just before he announced his intention to run as a Republican for the post of  Clallam County District 2 commissioner.

The Peninsula Daily News reports he did not advance from the Aug. 2 primary to the general election.
