One worker has died after three construction workers were swarmed by bees in Riverside on Monday morning.
The crew members were in a field when they accidentally disturbed the hive when they "hit an underground sprinkler vault," according to Battalion Chief Tony Perna.
Two of the workers were listed in critical condition upon arrival at a hospital; the third had minor injuries, fire officials said.
The officials said the bees returned to their hive after swarming the workers. They were removed later, but officials said they did not know if the bees were relocated or killed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
