GM recalls 1.2 million pickups, SUVs for power steering issues
General Motors has issued a recall of more than 1 million of its full-sized pickup trucks and SUVs.
The vehicles could have a steering malfunction that could lead to a crash, USA Today reported.
So far there have been 30 crashes related to the issue that resulted in two injuries. There have been no deaths because of the issue, USA Today reported.
The malfunction may cause the vehicles to become difficult to steer at low speed, Reuters reported.
USA Today reported that the vehicles could have a temporary loss of electric power steering which would suddenly return.
The recall affects some 2015 models of:
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
- GMC 1500 pickups.
- Chevy Tahoes.
- Chevy Suburban.
- GMC Yukon.
- Cadillac Escalade.
GM will alert owners of the affected vehicles. Dealers will then update the EPS module software free of charge, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's recall.
