According to The Associated Press, demonstrators outside the Albuquerque Convention Center "threw burning T-shirts, plastic bottles and other items at police officers."
"Several #APD officers are being treated for injuries as a result of being hit by rocks," Albuquerque police tweeted early Wednesday. "At least one (subject) arrested from the riot."
Officers fired smoke grenades and pepper spray at the demonstrators.
Meanwhile, inside the convention center, one protestor was dragged from the stands. Others reportedly clashed with security officers. Trump told the demonstrators to "go home to mommy."
"How old is this kid?" he said of one protester, according to the AP. "Still wearing diapers."
