Police in Tennessee are investigating a disturbing crime after they said an 11-year-old boy shot and killed an 8-year-old girl.
It happened Saturday in White Pine, Tennessee.
Sheriff deputies found the girl on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest, WBIR reported.
She died at an area hospital.
The sheriff said the girl's neighbor shot her from inside his home with his father's 12-gauge shotgun.
The two children went to the same school.
Police have not released a motive, but neighbors said the two had been arguing over a puppy, WBIR reported.
Chasity Arwood told WBIR, the boy was "wanting to see a puppy. The little girl laughed and told him no. That was it."
The boy was charged with first-degree murder in juvenile court. A judge could transfer the case to adult court.
