A teenager in Miami Gardens stole a police cruiser and went for a joyride before crashing into a restaurant, authorities said.
It all started when the 16-year-old's mother called police, thinking that her son had been involved in a robbery.
Police said that when they arrived at the home, the teen jumped into a cruiser and drove away.
Officers said the teen hit several cars before crashing into a Church's Chicken restaurant.
“I was just on the phone with my mom and minding my business until the ‘boom!’" said witness Lucretia Ventura. "You are not even safe on a Saturday afternoon going through a stop light without getting hit in the back."
A few other people in the restaurant were hurt and hospitalized.
The teen, whose name was not released, was arrested.
