A New Jersey police officer saved a distraught man from jumping off a bridge Monday.
Riverdale Police Sgt. Greg Bogert responded to a call about a man standing in the middle of the highway.
"When I pulled up, he was in front of traffic. He had that look of distress, and I just thought this isn't good," Bogert told News 12.
As Bogert pulled up the man ran toward the overpass bridge and tried to jump from it, according to police.
The man told Bogert that he lost his family and wanted to take his life, according to News 12.
The rescue was captured on Bogert's dashcam.
"I really thought I wasn't going to catch him at one point," Bogert told News 12. "I just kept yelling 'Don't do it. Don't do it.'"
The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Police have not released his identity.
