As a Florida man apologized over the phone to a woman he allegedly raped last week, he didn’t know police were listening as well.

So when the 52-year-old asked the woman to come over, he didn’t know it would be the police knocking on his door instead.

Orlando Figueredi, faces charges of sexual assault and false imprisonment. He remains in the Palm Beach County Jail on $130,000 bail.

Last week, Figueredi wanted to talk about “being friends again” with a 52-year-old woman , according to the police report. When they met up, they spoke and then the woman went to his home to pick up some of her belongings. While there, Figueredi became angry, threw her on the bed and tore off her clothing, she told police. Though she was able to get away, he ran after her, dragged her back into his home and raped her, according to the report.

On Nov. 26, police made a controlled call with the woman to Figueredi, where she asked him why he raped her. He apologized, said things “got crazy,” and told her he loved her, according to the report.

Then, he asked her to come over. A little while later, according to the report, police knocked on his door instead. He told police the sex was consensual.

Figueredi has previously been arrested multiple times on charges of battery, domestic battery and DUI.
