A man helped an older woman load her groceries into her vehicle before stealing her purse out of her trunk, according to Middletown police.
The 86-year-old woman told police she was loading her groceries at Needler's Market, 621 N. University Blvd., on Thursday afternoon when the man offered to help. After assisting the woman, the man reached into her trunk and stole her purse, which contained personal information and credit cards, according to a police report.
A K-9 from the Franklin Police Department was unable to locate the thief, described as a white man with tattoos on his neck. Two people in the parking lot said they witnessed the unarmed robbery and they provided police a photo of the suspect.
The woman’s purse was later found by a walker, and it was returned to the police department. The credit cards were missing, the report read.
