A Florida mother was arrested, accused of leaving her children in the car Sunday afternoon while she drank in a bar.
April King, 35, was arrested outside of Froggers Grill and Bar after police said she sat in her car pretending that police had the wrong person.
Marvell Jackson was on his break from his job as a cook at Froggers when he noticed two children alone in a car.
"The kid hit the horn. When he hit the horn I looked at the car. I see the little boy in the driver's seat and another child in the back," Jackson said.
Jackson said he quickly realized little boy's mother was inside Froggers, sitting at the bar drinking a vodka and orange juice.
He said the car was running but the children were unbuckled and unsupervised.
Jackson told his manager and the manager called 911.
"That's messed up. These are kids. I have kids. These two kids in there by themselves," Jackson said.
Witnesses told Butler that King got into her car and moved it as police were called.
When police arrived King told them she had just pulled up and had not been inside the bar.
But witnesses told police not only was King inside Froggers, but that she had been there the night before.
According to the police report, officers said she seemed to be unstable on her feet, had glossy red eyes and slurred speech.
Officers also said she had a breathalyzer in the car that she was required to blow into to start her car. According to police, she would have her 4-year-old son blew into the device.
Police said King told them she had just left a rehabilitation center in Oklahoma.
The report said her husband was out of town Sunday, but he was at home with the children on Monday.
He told police he was concerned for his children and told them his wife should be arrested. He also told them that he was aware his wife had a dependency problem.
The Florida Department of Children and Families is looking into the incident.
The bar manager said they have had issues with King in the past and he had told her to leave the bar after she finished her drink Sunday. It was a short time later that the children were spotted in the car.
