A Boca Raton woman on probation is in the Palm Beach County Jail after she allegedly chased an 11-year-old boy with a knife after the boy argued with her daughter, according to police.
Shakella Latrice Quinn, 27, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer without violence and probation violation. Because she violated her probation, Quinn is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
The trouble began when the boy and Quinn’s daughter, whose age is not listed on the arrest report, got into a playground altercation in Boca Raton. The girl complained to Quinn, who responded by chasing the boy through a parking lot with a knife in her hand, a witness told police.
The boy ran into an apartment while Quinn stood outside. A witness inside the apartment said that Quinn remained outside the unit even after she was told that police were called.
When officers approached Quinn, she was holding a pair of scissors in her right hand with “an aggressive and threatening grip.”
Bystanders alerted police that the knife Quinn allegedly used was on the ground in the parking lot, police said.
Quinn denied using a knife or threatening anyone, according to the arrest report. The boy and Quinn’s daughter refused to give police a statement.
As Quinn was being handcuffed, she allegedly told an officer: “I ain’t going to jail.”
Quinn began pulling away and kicking at officers and was placed in a body restraint.
Court records show that Quinn was sentenced to two years of probation after she was convicted of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud last August in Broward County.
