A South Florida woman was arrested on Tuesday after police said she beat her son with a belt and punched him in the face over the results of his report card.

Sarah Dennis, 25, allegedly attacked her 12-year-old son when he came home with F grades on his report card, Local 10 reports. According to police. Dennis told her son to "go to his bedroom and strip down to his underwear" and the boy said she began to beat him with a belt on "his back, buttocks, and head" before punching him with a closed fist in his left eye three to four times.

Detectives said the child showed up at school with a black eye and met with a guidance counselor following the altercation.

Dennis denied punching her children to police, saying “she was under the impression that her son had gotten a black eye during a fistfight at school.” She was charged with aggravated child abuse.
