A Brookline firefighter was arrested after being accused of beating up a homeless man Sunday night.
Police said 37-year-old Joseph Ward became angry after the man took too long to order at Anna's Taqueria on Harvard Street. Ward hit the man outside of the restaurant, police said, and the victim was taken to the hospital.
One witness said Ward pushed, punched and kicked the victim before throwing food and a glass bottle at him while he was on the ground.
According to the police report obtained by FOX25, he lives in a multi-family in Dorchester. He did not answer the door Monday night.
Ward didn't have to face our cameras, but he will have to face a judge for what happened Sunday night. He has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon: a bottle.
Town administrator Mel Kleckner said, "The town is aware of firefighter Ward's arrest and he has been placed on administrative leave immediately pending further investigation. The town will not be making any further statements at this time."
