A couple faced their demise after investigators said someone spotted them having sex in the backseat of an SUV and then shot them to death, The Inquirer reports.
The bodies of Shakoor Arline, 25, and Lisa Smith, 32, of Philadelphia were found by maintenance workers in Fairmount Park Friday afternoon. Investigators are looking into whether Arline and Smith's romantic involvements with others had something to do with their deaths and have called the case a “crime of passion,” The Inquirer reports.
"Someone knew they were in the park at that time and obviously had an issue with it," said homicide Capt. James Clark at a news conference. “Arline and Smith were in a relationship but also dating other people.”
Police said the shooting happened around 5 a.m. Friday morning when the suspect walked up to the SUV, opened the back door and shot Arline and Smith “multiple times in the head,” Clark said at the conference.
Investigators recovered a handgun at the scene and are now trying to locate a man and woman Smith and Arline were also dating.
