Police: Baby left alone for hours with woman's dead body

Oct 30, 2014

Pennsylvania state troopers say a 5-month-old baby may have been left alone for more than 11 hours with a dead woman’s body in a suburb outside of Pittsburgh.

According to WPXI-TV, the woman's body was found at a home in Mars Wednesday night and state police said they suspect foul play.

Forensic units continue to investigate Thursday morning,  hours after the woman was discovered dead by family members inside of the Adams Township home.

“The circumstances right now are leading us to believe there was foul play involved. She was found by her relatives in that state,” said trooper Tom Debovi.

Investigators told WPXI that a 5-month-old baby was inside of the house when family members discovered their loved one dead. The baby was unharmed. Investigators said the baby may have been alone with the woman's body for up to 11 hours before she was discovered.

State police said the woman appears to be around 42 years old, but have not released her name. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
So far, no suspects have been named or arrests have been announced.
