Planned Parenthood is taking a vocal stand against the attacks its organization has faced recently.
In a Facebook message, Planned Parenthood posts an open letter “To those who go to shocking extremes to close our doors.” The letter then addresses several points:
"We deplore your violence.
We reject your threats.
We fight your legislation to limit reproductive rights in every corner of our country.
We demand an end to the incendiary rhetoric. Your actions and words hurt women and create a climate of disrespect that makes violence possible.
We aren't going anywhere. Planned Parenthood has been here for 100 years and we will be here as long as Americans need health care.
These doors stay open."
Robert Lewis Dear is accused of opening fire at a Colorado Springs, Colorado Planned Parenthood facility on Friday, killing three people, including a police officer, and injuring nine. Republican presidential candidates, many who have been vocal about their opposition to Planned Parenthood, were slow to respond to the shooting. While Carly Fiorina called Dear deranged and said the incident was a tragedy, she also remarked that trying to link the anti-abortion movement with Friday's incident was "typical left-wing tactics."
