More than a dozen people were sent to a hospital after a school bus crashed Monday night.

The wreck happened in McDowell County, North Carolina.

Officials said the bus was carrying the volleyball team from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and it went over an embankment on Coxes Creek Mountain, WLOS reported.

Fourteen people were taken to area hospitals with injuries, but none were life-threatening, The Ashville Citizen-Times reported.

The bus was taking students and coaches from a varsity and JV volleyball match at Mitchell High School, the newspaper reported.
