Muhammad Ali was a boxing legend, but you don’t have to know anything about his impact in sports to have been impacted by his words.

Following news of Ali’s death, we’ve revisited some of his most famous quotes.

From boxing to social issues, Ali never shied away from sharing his thoughts. Like his sports legacy, his words will continue to live on, inspiring others to be confident, share their truths and fight for what they believe in.

Here are 10 of the most inspiring quotes from the sports icon and social activist.

  • "A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life."
  • "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
  • "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."
  • "I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was."
  • "If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you."
  • Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing."
  • "The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up."
  • "Silence is golden when you can't think of a good answer."
  • "Love is the net where hearts are caught like fish."
