After an intense search, officials have found the body of 5-year-old Josue Ramirez in a river.

The boy’s body was found late Monday morning. He was reported missing last week.

WOWT reports that Roberto Martinez-Marinero, 25, admitted to killing his mother, Jesus Marinero, and throwing his brother, Josue, into the Elkhorn River.

Martinez-Marinero is facing two first-degree murder charges and a kidnapping charge.

Authorities do not believe that the suspect was under the influence of drugs at the time of the killings.

The mother’s body had multiple stab wounds and it appears that she had been beaten around the head and face with a baseball bat.

Police say the mother was killed before the 5-year-old brother was thrown alive into the river.

The youngest family member, 11-month-old Angel Ramirez-Marinero, was found alive in a dumpster outside an apartment complex.
