The city of Rochester canceled its New Year’s Eve fireworks display Thursday after Justice Department officials said they uncovered a local man’s plan to kill people in the name of ISIS.
The targets were to be people celebrating at an upstate New York bar and restaurant, authorities said.
Emanuel Lutchman, 25 was charged with trying to provide material support to ISIS, according to a local news report.
Authorities said Lutchman was taking direction from an overseas member of ISIS and was given the order to kill as a way to become a member himself.
