A woman is dead after her husband accidentally drove off a partially demolished bridge in East Chicago Tuesday.
Police think the husband was following directions from his GPS navigation system when he drove off the edge of the demolished Cline Avenue bridge.
The entrance has signs, cones and orange barrels, even concrete barricades, showing the bridge is out. But police say the man drove around them and plunged nearly 40 feet to the ground.
His wife died when the car burst into flames after the impact. The man made it out. He's listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
