Man dies after falling in water at Hollywood Casino in Mississippi

A guest died after falling into water at Hollywood Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened Sunday, May 1. Deputies were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies were told a man had fallen into the water near the buffet area inside of the casino. First responders, North Tunica Fire Department and others assisted in the search of the victim.

The victim’s body was located and recovered from the water, and he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Bob Jerome Murray, 48, of Birmingham, Alabama.

According to WMC Action News, a witness said Murray was at the hotel with his fiance. The couple was inside the hotel when she threw Murray a pack of cigarettes, which he attempted to catch. He lost his balance, fell over a railing and landed in the water, WMC reported.

His cause of death is pending.
