In the bigger is better category, a Canadian family is at the top of the list in the pool department.
Jerry and Marina Leussink built a 317,000-gallon pool in their Alberta backyard that has solar lighting, a dance floor and turns into an ice skating rink in the winter, according to the Prairie Farm Report.

The Leussinks built the 90-by-70 foot pool in 2013 with help from other family members, but news about the pool has recently hit headlines again. The pool, deck and other amenities cost and estimated $18,000 to build, according to The Western Producer.
The inspiration for the pool was a pond Jerry Leussink used to swim in as a boy on hot summer days.
"I had a pond, but I wanted to go 10 steps further," he told The Western Producer.
However, anyone who wants to take a dip in one of the largest pools in the world will have to head to Chile's San Alfonso del Mar resort. Their pool is 3,323-feet long and has 55 million gallons of water.
