Surgery can be terrifying for anyone, but the smallest patients are finding some big comfort thanks to a program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

The children’s hospital has started a program that lets kids take a stuffed animal or  book with them while they’re prepping for surgery. They’re allowed to keep the item with them until they are wheeled into the operating room. When they wake up from anesthesia, the book or animal is right there waiting for them.

While the young patients can bring their own comfort item, the hospital said that if they forget it at home, not to worry, they have a teddy bear or a blanket for them to cuddle.
