One of the Dayton, Ohio, area's most well-known natives traveled back home this weekend to do a little shopping and share some love in a city neighborhood thrust into the national spotlight a week ago by a national tragedy.
John Legend -- an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony-winning singer, song-writer actor and producer -- was spotted in the Oregon District on Sunday accompanied by Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley.
Legend first stopped at Heart Mercantile for some shopping, then visited Brim.
Legend’s appearance in the Oregon District comes a week after a 24-year-old Bellbrook man dressed in body armor and armed with a semi-automatic pistol killed nine people in the city's business district, police said.
Legend is a Springfield native whose songs include "All of Me," "Glory" and Ordinary People."
