Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy.
Investigators told WPXI the child was found Tuesday hanging in a closet in a home on Cottage Road in Smock, Fayette County.
A family member discovered the child, police said.
Family members confirmed the child’s name is Tristan, and he would have turned 7 on July 15.
From Chopper 11, several people were seen standing outside the home talking to troopers.
Authorities said family members and friends were being interviewed. So far, no charges have been filed.
Neighbors told WPXI that the home where the boy was found has been a source of trouble in the neighborhood recently, with numerous calls to police.
According to court records obtained by WPXI, one adult living in the home is awaiting trial on drug charges.
Fayette County District Attorney Richard Bower only confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death were still under investigation.
“Obviously, it's very emotional for all of the parts involved, including the investigators. This is not something any of us take very lightly,” he said.
An autopsy will be done to determine the boy’s cause of the death.
No additional details were released as of Tuesday night.
