An off-duty Dayton police officer was booked into the Montgomery County Jail overnight on suspicion of burglary after trying to enter a home he mistakenly thought was his, police said.

Torrence Edward Laprath, 33, a Dayton officer, was arrested by members of his own department and booked into jail shortly after 4 a.m., according to jail records.

Laprath was intoxicated and entered the home thinking it was his own, according to an official.
