Human remains were discovered in a wood-burning stove at the home of a suspect accused of killing an up-and-coming star-chef, who competed on the Food Network, along with her husband and unborn child.
Deputies removed 11 knives, a saw blade and debris from a wood-burning stove and yard from Robert Jason Owens’ North Carolina home Friday.
Cristie Codd and her husband Joseph were reported missing Sunday.
Owens was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and murder of an unborn child among other charges Tuesday.
Owens was arrested after investigators saw him throw away some of the Codd’s belongings the day they were reported missing.
The Codds had hired Owens to work on their home but investigators are not ready to release a motive for the crime.
Cristie Codd was a finalist on season 8 of "Food Network Star," a series in which cooks compete to win their own show on the network.
Codd, who competed under her maiden name Cristie Schoen, was a location chef and head caterer for movies like "Ender's Game” and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." She was also an actress with small roles in "Mona Lisa Smile" and worked as a stunt performer in the upcoming film "Terminator: Genisys."
