Some Grinches have taken the joy out of Christmas for a Houston grandmother.
For the third time in six years, vandals have taken the Christmas decorations from Margaret Drummond's yard, pilfering more than $500 worth of lights and inflatable figures, KHOU reported.
“It’s sad,” Drummond told the television station. “I mean, they took everything. They are not cheap and when you are on a fixed income it’s hard.”
Drummond's decorations also were stolen in 2013 and 2016, KTRK reported.
“It hurts when you get up at six in the morning and someone takes joy out of the world,” Drummond told the television station. “I couldn’t believe that somebody would do it again."
This time, surveillance cameras caught two men taking the decorations at 3 a.m. Monday, KHOU reported.
“I don’t like to look at (my yard),” Drummond told the television station. “It’s sad.”
Drummond has lived at her north Houston home for 30 years.
After her decorations were stolen in 2016, Drummond put a sign in her yard to let her neighbors know what happened, KHOU reported. Neighbors banded together and donated money so she could decorate the following year.
After the latest theft, Drummond said she won’t decorate again.
"No. This is it. I can't no more. … It hurts too bad," Drumond told KHOU. Why do they have to steal from people that work?"
