An Olympia man regrets ever getting in a stranger’s car.
Twenty-seven year-old Henry Griffin was drinking at the Westside Tavern in Olympia Sunday night.
That’s where police say he met 42-year-old Shaun Goodman. Goodman was driving a silver 2000 Ferrari and offered to drive Griffin home.
The minute they left the tavern Griffin was sorry he got in. Police say Goodman drove the Ferrari at speeds over 100 miles per hour with police in pursuit.
According to court documents Griffin asked Goodman to stop. When he refused, police say Griffin waited until the car slowed down and jumped out.
He called 911 “I got a ride from this guy and he’s in a Ferrari. And, um, He sped away from the cops and he took this sharp corner and I jumped out of the car and now I’m calling you guys because I’m scared. He might be looking for,” Henry Griffin told the 911 operator.
“I just kept begging him. Please, please, I have a son.” Griffin said.
Police caught up with Goodman, who crashed his car. He was ordered out of the Ferrari at gunpoint.
Goodman was arrested for unlawful imprisonment, felony eluding, and felony DUI. In court on Monday the prosecutor said Goodman has 5 prior DUI convictions.
Goodman posted bond Monday night. He’ll be required to wear an electronic home monitoring bracelet.
Charges are expected later this week.
