Goonies castmember and former child star Corey Feldman took to his Twitter account Monday evening to announce that the actress who played Mikey’s mom, Mary Ellen Trainor, had died.
Besides Goonies, Trainer appeared in countless blockbuster movies from the 1980s and 1990s, including Die Hard, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump and Ghostbusters II. Her first film was as the sister of Kathleen Turner’s character in the Michael Douglas film Romancing the Stone.
Trainor, 62, went on to appear in the television shows Parker Lewis Can't Lose and Relativity, and had a small part in Roswell.
The movie Goonies celebrated its 30th anniversary on Sunday.
Director Kevin Smith and other fans expressed their condolences.
