A little girl in Norfolk, Virginia is hoping to make the days brighter for girls who have to live in foster care or homeless shelters.
Gianni Graham had a unique was of doing it. At Christmas, she decided to collect 1,000 Barbies for 1,000 girls who may not have a doll of their own, WAVY reported.
This week, Gianni met her goal thanks to the kindness of strangers all over the country.
Gianni's mother said it happened overnight.
"Within a week, we went from five Barbies to a little over 500 from people all over the U.S. and even outside," Whitney Graham said.

The first two donations were Gianni's own dolls she received as Christmas gifts.
"I feel like girls in shelters should have the same as girls that are not in shelters. People donated more once they heard about it on Facebook. Every doll deserves a doll," Gianni told WAVY.
She will start passing out the dolls during spring break.
