A 14-year-old girl broke her nose when she was flung from a carnival ride Saturday at a fair.

Lauren Bonney and two of her friends were riding the "Music Express," a speeding carousel ride, when she was thrown from her car at the North Florida Fairgrounds, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

"When the ride finally did stop, I jumped out," her mother Bonney, who was a few cars back, told the Democrat. "Lauren was unconscious and not moving. It was very terrifying. There was blood everywhere."

The ride was shut down for the remainder of the day, said Mark Harvey, fairgrounds manager. It was reopened Sunday after being inspected by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services officials.

“They determined there was no malfunction on the part of the machine,” Harvey said. “What I mean by that is, the lap restraints were working properly, and the velocity of the ride was within the parameters of manufacturer recommendations.”

Police are investigating to determine if there will be any charges.
