Gertrude Weaver, who became the world's oldest person just last week after the death of 117-year-old Misao Okawa, died Monday at age 116, The Associated Press reports.

Weaver, who lived at Silver Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Camden, Arkansas, was born in 1898. Although some records indicate that she was born in April, she always celebrated her birthday on July 4.

Camden Mayor Marie Trisollini shared some of Weaver's health tips with the AP.

"When you asked for advice on how to live a long life she would say, 'Use a lot of skin moisturizer, treat everyone nice, love your neighbor and eat your own cooking. Don't eat at fast food places,'" Trisollini  said.
