A police department in Ohio got a surprising and satisfying delivery Friday afternoon — free pizza.
A CashMax store in Springfield sent five pizzas from Pizza Hut to the police as a show of appreciation. The company was motivated with its show of support after a sniper killed five Dallas police officers and wounded seven more Thursday night.
Niki Whims, who manages the CashMax, said the corporate office emailed its stores and asked them to show support for their local police by buying them lunch.
“They’re all for giving back to the community,” Whims said. “Absolutely the reason they did this is to show support for what the police officers do every day. They’re under-appreciated a lot of the time, and this is just a thank you for serving the community.”
Whims said buying pizzas was an example of how the business encourages its employees to pay it forward for people they encounter in the community.
