A Florida woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend with surgical scissors while he was in a hospital bed last month, authorities said.

Taniea Denise Sherrod, 18, of St. Petersburg, was charged with a felony charge of aggravated battery with a weapon, according to the Pinellas County court records. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge and was held in lieu of $15,000 bond, court records show.

According to an arrest report, Sherrod's boyfriend was in a hospital bed Nov. 19 at 10:30 p.m., the Tampa Bay Times reported. According to the arrest report, Sherrod and the man began arguing over the man's suspected infidelity, the newspaper reported.

When Sherrod's boyfriend refused to let her view his cellphone, she became angry, the Times reported. According to the arrest report, Sherrod picked up a pair of surgical scissors that were in the hospital room and stabbed the man in the right thigh, causing "multiple puncture wounds."

The report did not explain why the man was in the hospital, the Times reported.

Sherrod was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail, according to an arrest report.
