A Florida woman was in stable condition after she fell in front of a Christmas parade float Saturday, injuring her lower torso, police said.

Miriam Mims, 59, was at the front of a Pensacola-area Christmas parade when she stepped into the street to pick up an item that had been tossed from a float, the Pensacola News Journal reports.

Mims was bumped forward when she leaned down to pick up the item, and she fell into the parade’s path, police said.

One of the float’s safety walkers was able to move Mims’ upper body and head out of the way of the float, but her lower left torso was run over, the News Journal reports. The float was "moving no faster than 2 miles per hour," police said.

The parade was delayed for about 30 minutes. Police are investigating.
