Two Florida men were arrested early Thursday for climbing a 35-foot Christmas tree in a city park and tossing ornaments, authorities said.

Alex Anthony Laky, 27, of Hudson, and Shay Morgan Tracy, of St. Petersburg, were arrested on charges of criminal mischief, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Both men were released on $150 bail, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Witnesses saw the two men climbing the tree at Largo's downtown Central Park around 4 a.m. Thursday, WTVT reported. The men were also observed throwing ornaments from the tree, the television station reported.

The tree had "very minor damage, some broken branches that are not noticeable. Most of the damages were broken ornaments that have since been replaced," Largo police Lt. Scott Gore told the Times in an email.

The tree, which was lit Dec. 7, is a popular attraction in Largo, WTVT reported.
