A Florida man is being sought by authorities after the owners of a religious store said he broke in with a bucket on his head and made off with their pricey pigeons.
Mae and Nelson Hernandez, owners of El Viejo Lazaro Botanica in Miami, said the burglary happened right after closing on Friday evening when the man, with a bucket on his head and trash bag around his shoulders, jumped the fence and broke into their store, WSVN reports. Surveillance video showed the thief making off with a cage filled with pigeons that they said are worth "thousands of dollars."
“I don’t know what’s going here in Miami,” Mae Hernandez told WSVN. “People don’t have respect for anything.”
This burglary comes after one in May where two people robbed the store and it led the Hernandezes to beef up the security. They added that this incident was “especially painful” as it happened just before the holidays.
If you have any information on either of these burglaries, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
