After Carlos Pino, 20, crashed into a tree, his car split in half – and he only suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Pino lost control of his silver 1986 Nissan 300ZX and started to slide, causing him to skid off a curb and into a tree, according to the Winter Haven Police Department.

“The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to split in two with the front engine compartment on one side of the tree and the vehicle’s cab coming to rest on the opposite side of the tree,” a press release reads.

Pino was reportedly wearing his seat belt during the crash, but investigators believe his speed, along with the wet road, may have been a factor in the crash.

The driver was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health where he is recovering.
