According to ABC News, Evelyn Adams Barlett and David Barlett, both 56, have been living together in a camp in the Tampa woods. Daniel McDonald, a homeless outreach officer with the Tampa Police Department, recently told area news outlets about the couple, who have been together for 22 years but never wed because they couldn't afford a marriage license. They moved from Ohio to Florida for a job offer that ended up falling through, leaving them homeless for the past three years, McDonald said.
"When we started making calls to caterers, photographers, florists and other vendors – before we could finish asking them for stuff, they were already ready to donate. They were like, 'You need a cake? You got it!' or 'You need rings? They're on the way,'" Nancy Spooner, wedding director for the ranch, told ABC News.
The couple wed earlier this month at the ranch, where they also had a reception. The event normally would have cost about $20,000, ABC News reports.
"It's like a mansion," Evelyn told ABC News. "We are so grateful to be able to get this new, fresh start to our lives."
