For nearly two weeks, firefighters across California have been battling forest fires in the Carmel Valley.
Firemen from the Santa Barbara Fire Department are helping out dousing the flames on the Soberanes Fire's front lines.
Wednesday they got a special visit from two furry visitors.
John Babcock brought his two Saint Bernard therapy dogs to see the firefighters and give them a little relief from battling the flames.
"Saint Bernards, they love to give love and receive it,"
.
Bobo and Beah typically visit hospitals and libraries to help those in need, but Wednesday they were at the Cal Fire's Carmel Valley base camp greeting the strike team, and helping spread some smiles.
"I just can’t wait to get home and see my dogs, they'll probably jump all over me," one firefighters said as he was greeted by the big pups.
"It’s kind of neat when you see your guys smiling, and they’re tired, they worked really hard yesterday, but they got time to come over and play with the dogs," Santa Barbara Battalion Chief Jim McCoy told KSBW.
The local SPCA had the same idea, bringing more dogs to the base camp to see the firefighters.
Officials want the public's help in finding whoever started the fire that has charred almost 73 square miles and destroyed 57 homes.
