A suspect is in custody after eight people were found murdered in Harris County, Texas.
Sheriff deputies arrived at a home just outside of Houston to perform a welfare check. Then, a 49-year-old man inside the house exchanged gunfire with deputies but eventually surrendered. Five children and three adults were found dead inside. (Video via KRIV)
Police say the suspect, David Conley, had a history of domestic violence. Not much else is known about the killings, including a potential motive. (Video via KTRK)
"One 14-year-old boy we just spoke with, he says one of the boys in that house who was killed was his best friend. ... The only thing that that young man would tell us is that the kid never seemed really happy at home. They always wanted to make sure they could do everything to stay out of the house," KPRC reports.
Authorities are trying to determine how the eight people were killed. (Video via KHOU)
