A woman with a passion for couponing has pledged to deliver 30,000 meals to the homeless by her 30th birthday.
Lauren Puryear started couponing four years ago not to save money, but to help others.
"I started couponing for items like spaghetti, meatballs, and I was able to get items for free or little to no money," Puryear told NJ.com.
She said her grandmother instilled in her an affinity for helping others. When she passed away in 2012, Puryear kicked her game into high-gear.
She started an organization called For the Love of Others aimed at helping those in need.
"It’s probably the most exhilarating thing I could ever do in life," said Puryear. "The joy of helping others does not compare to any other accomplishment in my life."
Puryear is hoping to deliver 30,000 meals to those in need by her 30th birthday. So far, she has delivered 5,000 meals in the New Jersey, Baltimore and Washington D.C. areas. She’s confident she’ll hit her goal by next year.
